I have an unaware balance sent to credit report!

I had recently checked my credit report about three weeks ago and found out that I had a delinquent balance for $67 that had been added recently to my report. I had opened a T-mobile’s Fav5 account around 2008 and later switched to flex pay account around 2009. I am currently a customer with T-Mobile and around April of last year 2013 I bought an iPhone 5 and was switched to a monthly plan. My understanding of Flexible payment is similar to prepaid phone plan, but it’s better than prepaid because the rates were cheaper. You basically pay for your services ahead of time, so there are no surprises on your phone bill. My phone service was not in a contract hence why I am surprised and frustrated!  I was never told there was an outstanding balance. I had never received a phone call from T-Mobile nor a letter from the collection agency (Enhanced Recovery Company) that I owed a debt. I am trying to refinance my mortgage and if I knew I owed $67 I would had paid the money to prevent it from going on my credit. I had spoken to three reps from the billing department, and they had told me they do not see any debts. They referred me to their recovery department, and the gentleman told me it was from my fav5/flexible account. WHAT?!!?! He later told me he cannot help me, and I would need to contact the collection agency. How can I owe money when you pay for the services a head of time?

The collection agency was not helpful.  After speaking to several reps I was able to get a hold of a manager. I explained the situation, and he said a letter will be sent to me with the validation of the debt. I received the letter today. It was a general letter saying I owe T-mobile $67. That was basically it.

I am so frustrated. This is my first time dealing with collectors. I am not sure what to do and been researching online for the past two weeks. I am overwhelm and not sure what to do. Could anyone help me? I should take my business elsewhere! I’ve been a loyal customer who added three more phone lines and got my friends to switched to T-Mobile!!!! I need this removed immediately! Please help! I really appreciate it. Thank you!!
