Porting out 4 days into billing cycle=charged for the WHOLE month.

I had been a loyal T-mobile customer for several years.  I decided to make the switch to a prepaid plan with a smaller carrier due to currently being unemployed.  My billing cycle ended 5/14, I ported out on 5/10/14, but the requested didn't complete 'til 5/19/14.  This week I received a letter stating that i'm late for the month of 5/14-6/14...I have no problem paying the prorated fee that accounts for the 4-5 days overlap.  I've contacted chat, to explain my case and got the, "The T&Cs state that you must pay the entire month" type of response.  Well, my contracted ended 5/5/14.

I'm being told via chat that there is nothing I can do.  The representative named Nikki G even stated "I understand and I may feel that way too if that happen to me since at the end of the day, I am also a customer" after I stated that I would fairly pay a prorated rate from 5/15-5/19.

The prepaid plan I changed to isn't exactly as great as the Tmobile service I had, but ok considering my current finances. I honestly thought that after I get through this hard time in my life, i would go back to Tmobile.  But this incident has left me thinking otherwise.

Has anyone else experienced this?
