Simple Choice Family Plan 10GB announcement, how does it apply to current users?

AT&T's 'Best Ever' Deal for Families? LOL! | T-Mobile Newsroom

 

This is the only T-Mobile source I've found regarding this promotion (basically changing the Simple Choice Family (4-line) plan to 2.5GB of 4G data a month, up from 1GB per month, until 2016). It's a fantastic offer, and it clearly applies to new subscribers, but the newsroom/blog post didn't mention current subscribers. I'd like to know how it affects my Simple Choice plan, which was started in April. Will my lines (currently 1GB 4G per month) be upgraded to 2.5GB too, will it be automatic (and when should I expect it), and will I get a text message telling me I got the upgrade?

 

I'd just like some clear assurances either way. I realize there's no contract, so if I really wanted to, I could just cancel the current plan and start a new subscription to qualify, but this seems counterintuitive and a waste of effort for me and whoever would be involved on T-Mobile's end to cancel and start the service anew, especially if I want to keep my phone numbers.

 

Anyway, I realize too that this announcement is from just a few hours ago, but I took a look at my account summary online, which still shows 1GB 4G per month.

 

I appreciate a prompt reply, but I'd prefer a clear and accurate one even if it took a few days for the details of this offer announcement to make its way through T-Mobile support staff.
