Need help disputing ETF

I was on a postpaid plan a few months ago. I decided to switch to prepaid and I double checked that my contract was over. When I first called to ask how I could switch from postpaid to prepaid (and maintain my number), I was told I would have to pay an Early Termination Fee. I asked if they coulc check again, because I was sure I'd been close to 2.5 years on the plan (i.e. past contract time). They checked, said I was right and apologized. This actually occured multiple times (really, almost every time I called before finally switching to prepaid).

Things were going pretty well for the past few months. Then I got charged $240-ish out of nowhere (I assume it was the ETF that every single customer representative told me I would have to pay and then a few minutes corrected themselves.) I tried to contact T-mobile, but I could for the life of me not figure out how to get in touch with a customer representative. It was much easier while I was still on the postpaid plan and I presume prepaid customers don't get the same access to customer representatives.

Anyway, I got my credit card company to cancel this charge. It showed up again this month, although now it's in the $260 range (penalty added?). My credit card company has blocked the merchant IDs associated with T-mobile. Unfortunetely, I can't utilize auto-pay anymore with that credit card and I'm hesitant to use it with another one.

I just recently found out about this discussion board. So

1. T-mobile really needs to get its act together in terms of being able to talk to a customer representative (an option should be provided in the 1st menu for ALL customers). I'd be more than glad to talk to a representative if someone can clearly explain to me how to get a hold of them under a prepaid plan. Can anyone help me out?

2. Why is T-mobile being so lethargic about the ETF? My contract was over, so how come every single representative made the mistake of telling me I needed to pay an ETF, only to later figure out themselves I don't. Also, I even called an hour before switching from postpaid to prepaid to make sure I didn't have any remaining bills remaining.
